River City Roots Run: Recap

As a first time race director, let me just start out by saying ‘Wow!’ I was super impressed and honored by all the hard-working volunteers that showed up and helped put on a successful River City Roots Run on Aug. 25. I know I didn’t say it enough at the end, when I was busy handing out prizes for the top five male and female finishers, but thank you, thank you, THANK YOU.

The seventh annual RCR 4-mile fun run had 337 participants and, despite the smoky skies, most everyone had nice comments to say about the Run Wild Missoula-sponsored event. Of course, we could not have done it without the assistance of the Missoula Downtown Association, which organizes the full two-day music festival, all our corporate sponsors and the 45 volunteers that gave up a Sunday to help out.

From setup to teardown we had tremendous help and it did not go unnoticed by me. Thanks to everyone that helped with registration, T-shirt sizing, course marshaling, water stationing and chip-clipping at the finish line. You made my first run at being a race director a memorable one. Thank you.
