19th Annual Pumpkin Run at the Osprey Baseball Stadium
Overall winner is the first prime number to precede the prime number 113! (This would be 109)
If possible, the Pumpkin Run 400 meter and 5K will again finish at Home Plate in the Osprey Baseball Stadium. Race day registration starting at 8:35 AM is also at the Osprey Baseball Stadium. We are still looking for a cloister of monks to perform Gregorian Chants; I may get back to you on that later. The 5k run will be chipped timed this year. We are still debating whether it should be deer or bear chips and how big an hour glass is needed for this type of timing?
This is a fund raiser for the Missoula Food Bank. Since this is an international event, feel free to invite any Kenyans, Elves, Romulans, etc that may be in town to participate. On-line registration is super easy at www.runwildmissoula.org.
The 400 meter kids run, for people 12 and under, should start at 9:45 am (5K at 10:09). As in previous years, all efforts will be made to procure orange orbs for distribution to all 400 meter participants.
I would like to give a special thanks to the sponsors who donate to this event each year: The Runners Edge, Missoula Ace Hardware, The Good Food Store, and The Book Exchange. Their prizes add a lot to the day. For the fourth year in a row The Pumpkin Run is also a participant in the Green Power Missoula Campaign which is a program designed to encourage renewable energy production such as wind power. Since pumpkin plants start out green, Green Power Missoula is a natural fit for this event.
There will be age group prizes, first male finisher prize, first female finisher prize, and the overall winner at 109th place (must be present to win) will get a great prize. As in most years of the Pumpkin Run, the overall winner is PRIME!
