Recently, I've been doing one run a week in town. I'm the sort of runner who likes to keep records on the distance I've run and am wondering if anybody has come up with some internet mapping site that would allow you to trace out a route on a city street map to come up with a distance. I know you can do something like that with mapquest if you pick out a bunch of midpoints, but I'm wondering if there's a better way.

Walt, I've had the best luck with Google Earth, you have to download the program, (free) then you can use the measure tool to draw your route and get a pretty accurate distance.. it is usually with in a few percent of my Garmin.

Thanks! That sounds just like the solution I was looking for. I'll give it a shot.

There is also a good website that I have used for years and my coach used for out running routes in college. Here is the link: gmap-pedometer.com
