The Board of Directors is pleased to introduce Tony Banovich as our new Executive Director and Missoula Marathon Race Director. The hiring committee was excited to be challenged with the task of reviewing and interviewing a very talented candidate pool. Tony’s skill sets and past experience are a good fit for our organization. We are confident Tony has the ability to carry forth and expand upon the mission of Run Wild Missoula. A Butte native, Tony has been actively involved in distance running for 35 years as a competitive athlete, race director, club administrator, coach and event volunteer. A member of Run Wild Missoula himself, many in the Missoula area are familiar with Tony as the start and finish line announcer for the Missoula Marathon, Run For The Luck Of It and Missoula Mile. He has also been the race director for the Huckleberry Run 5K in Trout Creek and the 2012 Montana Cup Cross Country event in Plains. And, for the last 5 years, he has been a cross country and track coach for Plains High School. Prior to joining RWM, Tony had a 25-year career as a professional engineer and project manager with the City of Billings; Billings Clinic; and, most recently, the consulting firm of Sanderson Stewart. For the last 7 years, Tony and his wife Erin McCarthy have lived in Plains. They have a son Nick who lives in Chicago with his wife Katie and 11-month old daughter Emery. Their daughter Zoe is in her senior year at Montana State University. In accepting the position, Tony stated that “I can’t describe how excited I am to become part of the Run Wild Missoula organization. The club has been a leader in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle for all of western Montana; and, without question, the Missoula Marathon is the premiere running event in Big Sky Country. I hope to use my passion for and knowledge of the sport to help Run Wild Missoula reach the next level of excellence and greatness.” Tony will begin his official RWM duties on Monday, September 22nd; but, is looking forward to meeting as many club members as possible at the RWM Annual Meeting on September 10th. Tony, we are so excited to have as our new leader of Run Wild Missoula. The Board and staff look forward to working you. Your passion for our organization is evident and I truly believe you can inspire us all.
