2018 Missoula Marathon & Half Marathon Training Class

Come join Run Wild Missoula for the annual Missoula Marathon & Half Marathon Training Class!  This is a great class to take if you're a first-timer or repeat runner looking to successfully train for and complete the Missoula Marathon or Half Marathon, on Sunday, July 15th, 2018.  Run Wild Missoula has offered this class since the Missoula Marathon began, to great attendance and success.


Class Fee: $100 

We are pleased to announce a limited number of scholarships will be available for those in need of assistance with the cost of the 2018 training class.  For more information and to apply, please email Ashley Cossairt

Class starts:  Sunday, March 18th.  8:00 AM at Run Wild Missoula (basement of Runner's Edge).

Class meets:  Sundays & Wednesdays

  • Sunday at 8:00 AM
  • Wednesday at 6:00 PM

2018 Coaches:

  • Courtney Babcock - Olympian, Canadian national record holder, coach & personal trainer, owner of Key Running
  • Tony Banovich - Missoula Marathon race director, 9-time marathoner, 2:28 marathon PR
  • Assisted by:
    • Danelle Gjetmundsen - Has completed all 11 previous Missoula Marathons, Missoula Marathon Volunteer Coordinator
    • Anders Brooker - Past coach of Missoula Marathon training class, owner of Runner's Edge, Hellgage H.S. cross country and distance track coach

Training Program Participants Receive:

  • Comprehensive training programs for both race distances;
  • Guest speakers on topics important to trainees;
  • Customized "Missoula Marathon" in training shirt for registered class participants - register by Friday, March 16th to guarantee your preferred shirt size;
  • Some surprise goodies to help your training;
  • Aid stations;
  • Endurance gels on (5) longest Sunday runs; and
  • Post class party!

Please note:  We suggest that you are able to run/walk the below mileage before the first class start.  If you have questions about what mileage group is the best fit for you, please email Ashley Cossairt.

Marathon Advanced Long Run: 6 miles
Marathon Beginner Long Run:  3 miles
Half Marathon Advanced Long Run:  3 miles
Half Marathon Beginner Long Run: 1 miles

Resources to Prepare for Class:

Saturday Morning Breakfast Club Run - free to RWM members!

  • We open the RE Basement Classroom every Saturday (weather permitting) at 7:45 a.m., for runners/walkers to use as their morning workout "home-base".  Runners head out at 8:00 a.m,
  • Maps and route suggestions available, and
  • Breakfast goodies and hot coffee available upon your return!
Tuesday Track - free to RWM members!
  • Weekly workout provided by Coach Courtney Babcock
  • Great opportunity to work on speed and endurance
