Run for the Luck of It!

Kick off Spring racing with Run Wild Missoula and Run for the Luck of It! on Saturday, March 13, 2021!

To participate in the Run for the Luck of It you must read and follow the guidelines and protocols.  These protocols have been established to keep our runners, staff, volunteers, partners, and community safe by preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus.  These protocols have been developed in coordination with the Missoula City County Health Department.
For the safety of all participants, staff, and volunteers, if you do not comply with these guidelines, you will be asked to leave the event and will be removed from any results listing

During this time of COVID-19, there are inherent risks involved in participating in in-person races and events. While we are taking reasonable precautions, based on state and local guidelines, to provide a safe environment, we cannot guarantee the safety of all involved.  If you are concerned about your personal safety, we would suggest that you forego our in-person activities and instead consider our virtual options.

IN-PERSON 7 MILE EVENT

  • The in-person 7 Mile event is capped at 200 participants.
  • Registration for this event is limited to Montana residents or students attending university/college in Montana.
  • Spectators are not allowed at the in-person event.

Location: Bonner Park

Cost: Includes event bottle opener, chip timing, and 2021 Racemaker/Run Wilder credit for Run Wild Missoula members

  • 7 Mile, In-Person Event
    • 15 and Over
      • $33: Thursday, February 25th – Wednesday, March 10th at 12:00 PM (Noon)
      • RWM Members receive $3 discount!
    • 14 and Under
      • $18: Thursday, February 25th – Wednesday, March 10th at 12:00 PM (Noon)
      • RWM Members receive $3 discount!

Packet Pick Up: You must choose your option during registration

  • Option 1: Pay $5 to have your bib, pins, and race swag mailed to you prior to the event
    • Available until Sunday, March 7, 2021
  • Option 2: Pick up your bib and race swag on Friday, March 12 between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM at Run Wild Missoula
  • There is no race day pick up.  No exceptions.

Subject to change based on permitting requirements or inclement weather.

Wave Start:  Runners will be released onto the course in pairs every 5 seconds.

  • The first 100 participants will be released between 8:30 and 8:34 AM
  • The second 100 participants will be released between 8:40 and 8:44 AM
  • During registration, you will submit your predicted finish time to determine when you will start your race

Please do not arrive at the race venue until 15 minutes before your assigned start time (8:30 AM or 8:40 AM).
Participants must check-in to the marshaling box 2 to 6 minutes prior to their assigned wave.
If you miss the start of your assigned wave, you will not be able to participate in the event.  No exceptions.

Awards: Based on Chip Time

  • Top Three Overall Male and Female
  • Top One in Each Age Group, Male and Female
  • Age Groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+
  • Awards will be mailed after the event

Strollers: Due to COVID-19 and based on our race protocols developed in coordination with the Missoula City County Health Department, strollers will not be allowed to participate in the event.  Thank you for understanding.

Dogs: Per Run Wild Missoula event policies, dogs are not allowed to participate in the event with the exception of ADA Service Animals.  Service animals must be on a non-retractable, 6 foot or less leash.

VIRTUAL 5K EVENT

Complete the Run for the Luck of It 5K event anywhere and anytime by Sunday, March 14th.  Once you complete your 5K, you can upload your results to the event page here.

Cost: $23; RWM Members receive $3 discount!

    • Registration is available from Thursday, February 25th through Wednesday, March 10th at 12:00 PM (Noon)
    • Includes event bottle opener, race bib, and 2021 Racemaker/Run Wilder credit for Run Wild Missoula members

      Race swag will be mailed to all virtual participants on Thursday, March 11th.

      There are no awards for the virtual event.

      **If you choose to participate in the virtual 5K event, we ask that you choose a route that does not conflict with the 7-mile route taking place on Saturday, March 13th.

      The COVID-19 pandemic has been an undeniable challenge to produce in-person race events.  Here in Missoula, the ability to conduct in-person events is based on the criteria established under the Missoula City County Health Orders. 

      One of the challenges of leadership is having to make difficult and/or unpopular decisions for the greater good.  To that end, Run Wild Missoula will not produce races in the current environment unless we are completely comfortable that we have done our best to protect the safety and mitigated the risk for our members, race participants, and greater Missoula community.  Further, we will not promote or support events by other organizations that have not demonstrated that they are following basic safety and risk management guidelines
