Run Wild Missoula will again to offer a summer trail running class designed to get you ready for late summer/early fall trail racing.  This 8-week class will meet once a week for a Thursday morning workout. This class will cater towards the intermediate to advanced trail runner and is designed to get you ready for dramatic changes in elevation that you’ll experience on technical trail runs like The Rut and the Bridger Ridge Run.

Registration opens Thursday, June 20th at 8:00 AM

This class is limited to 30 people; we will not maintain a waitlist.
Run Wild Missoula Membership Required.

Who should take this class:

  • Intermediate to advanced trail runners, who want to improve their climbing and descending skills in preparation for late summer/fall trail race season;
  • Participants should have experience running on trails, be able to run a single mile in 8 minutes (on the roads), run up to the M with no walk/hiking breaks, and run for an hour in duration.
  • If you believe this may be too much for you at your current level of fitness, we suggest you consider one of Run Wild Missoula’s fall trail classes (class offerings, dates, and details to be determined).
  • This class is limited to 30 participants. Run Wild Missoula Membership Required.

Class Schedule:

  • July 11 through August 29 (8 weeks)
  • Class will meet once per week:
    • Thursdays at 6:15 AM at Run Wild Missoula
      • Thursday classes will focus on a running workout;
      • Hill Repeats;
      • Scree Scrambles;
      • And, other fun stuff.
    • Please leave dogs at home, for the safety of other runners.  Trails are narrow, and even more so with a group - thank you!

Cost: Run Wild Missoula is choosing NOT to charge for this class - in doing so, the hope is that participants will pass along what they consider the class to be worth in a donation to the Five Valleys Land Trust!  The donation to FVLT will aid with the development of area trails and open spaces.  Your opportunity to donate will be available on the class registration form. Thanks for helping us  give back to the open spaces we are so lucky to have in our backyards!

Class instructors:

  • Jesse Carnes - Jesse has been a mainstay in the Missoula endurance scene for the better part of the last decade. He spent several years as a competitive triathlete, and while he hasn’t completely hung up his wetsuit and speed laces, these days you’re more likely to find him frolicking in the mountains. He knows the local trail systems like the back of his hand and is always eager to share his enthusiasm for running.
  • Adam Rasmussen - Adam is a Missoula transplant, but he might as well be a local. When he isn't working on his new business, Sentinel Craftsmen, you can find Adam running dicey mountain trails, enjoying a house pie at Biga, or throwing back a pint of local brew with friends.
