Run Wild Missoula will again to offer a summer trail running session designed to get you ready for late summer/early fall trail racing.  This 8-week session will meet once a week for a Thursday morning workout. This session will cater towards the intermediate to advanced trail runner and is designed to get you ready for dramatic changes in elevation that you’ll experience on technical trail runs like The Rut.

This session is limited to 20 people; we will not maintain a wait list.
Run Wild Missoula Membership Required.

Who should take this session:

  • Intermediate to advanced trail runners, who want to improve their climbing and descending skills in preparation for late summer/fall trail race season;
  • Participants should have experience running on trails, be able to run a single mile in 8 minutes (on the roads), run up to the M with no walk/hiking breaks, and run for an hour in duration.
  • If you believe this may be too much for you at your current level of fitness, we suggest you consider one of Run Wild Missoula’s fall trail sessions (session offerings, dates, and details to be determined).
  • This class is limited to 20 participants. Run Wild Missoula Membership Required.

Class Schedule:

  • July 8 through August 26 (8 weeks)
  • This session will meet once per week:
    • Thursdays at 6:15 AM at Run Wild Missoula
      • Thursday sessions will focus on a running workout;
      • Hill Repeats;
      • Scree Scrambles;
      • And, other fun stuff.
    • Please leave dogs at home, for the safety of other runners.  Trails are narrow, and even more so with a group - thank you!

Cost: Run Wild Missoula is choosing NOT to charge for this class - in doing so, the hope is that participants will pass along what they consider the class to be worth in a donation to the Five Valleys Land Trust!  The donation to FVLT will aid with the development of area trails and open spaces.  Your opportunity to donate will be available on the class registration form. Thanks for helping us  give back to the open spaces we are so lucky to have in our backyards!

Class instructor:

  • Tanner Pace: Tanner Pace is a born-and-raised Missoulian who started running cross country at Big Sky High School. His joining that program was no small fortune; it fostered a profound enthusiasm for hard work and exploring local trails. However, the demands of collegiate lacrosse relegated Tanner's passion for running to off-season jaunts while he studied economics and French at the University of Montana. Since then he's returned to his beloved trails and ran his first 50k in 2019. Though he struggles pull himself away from Missoula's sublime natural environs, Tanner adores Run Wild group runs and he rarely misses Tuesday Track.
