Turkey Day 8K & 3K Family Fun Run

Start your Thanksgiving Day with fresh air and exercise and join us on Thursday, November 25th for our turkey trot! The Turkey Day 8K and 3K Family Fun Run courses travel along Ron's Riverfront Trail and the Milwaukee Trail, with short distances on a few Missoula city streets.

Registration Opens Thursday, September 23rd at 8:00 AM


Registration:

  • Turkey Day 8K Entry Fees (timed): 8K participants receive chip timing, a custom designed winter hat from BOCO, and are eligible for overall prizes.  Run Wild Missoula members, remember to login to the website to receive a $3 discount!
    Note:  BOCO Winter Hats Guaranteed for first 900 Pre-Registered 8K Participants Only (through 11:59 PM on 11/23)
    • September 23 through October 28
      • $20 - 15 and Over
      • $15 - 14 and Under
    • October 29 through November 23
      • $25 - 15 and Over
      • $15 - 14 and Under
    • November 24 & November 25
      Winter hats, if available, provided on first come, first serve basis for late registration.

  • Turkey Day 3K is FREE for all ages (untimed):
    • All 3K participants MUST register
    • Online registration for the 3K will be open through November 25 at 9:00 AM
    • In-person registration available on November 24, from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at Run Wild Missoula (basement of Runner's Edge)
    • In-person registration available race day, November 25, between 8:00 - 9:15 AM, at race start.
      • Race day registration will end promptly at 9:15 AM.
    • 3K race is untimed & noncompetitive – perfect for kids and families
    • Race bib and winter hat not included in registration
  • We encourage all participants to donate non-perishable food or monetary donations to the Missoula Food Bank.  For every pound of non-perishable food donated as part of the run, Run Wild Missoula and Runner's Edge will match that with a donation of $1 - up to $1,000 total.  Food donations can be placed directly in the Missoula Food Bank truck at the race start on race morning.

Packet Pickup - 8K Only:

  • Wednesday, November 24 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at Run Wild Missoula (basement of Runner's Edge)
  • Race day, November 25, from 8:00 - 9:15 AM at race start (UM Campus)
    • Packet pickup will end promptly at 9:15 AM.  We will not be able to provide you a bib number for the 8K after 9:15 AM.
    • We need the time between 9:15 AM and 9:30 AM to get all of your data entered in the system for accurate race timing and results.
    • And, we want to give you plenty of time to warm up and make it through the bathroom line before the race start.

8K & 3K Courses:

    • 8K; Wave 1 (10:00 pace or less): 9:30 AM start
    • 8K; Wave 2 (10:01 pace or more): 9:32 AM start

  • The courses are open to strollers and walkers.  NO DOGS PLEASE.  There are no aid stations.
  • Please note that the races will START & FINISH in the same location.

Awards in the 8K are given to the overall top 3 female and top 3 male winners in the form of Thanksgiving food goodies!

Per Run Wild Missoula event policies, dogs are not allowed to participate in the event with the exception of ADA Service Animals.  Service animals must be on non-retractable, 6 foot or less leash.
