Join Coach Forrest Boughner and Run Wild Missoula for the Spring Road Training Class! This class is intended for all paces and all abilities who are looking for structure in training with guidance from a coach.
This class has been offered since the Missoula Marathon began and has traditionally been a training class tailored specifically for the Missoula Marathon & Half Marathon. This spring, we are excited to add additional distance options to the training class for those looking for structure in training with guidance from a coach. This is a great class to take whether you are a first-timer or repeat runner looking to successfully train for and complete an event during the Missoula Marathon weekend, or have other events to tackle on your calendar!
Registration: Opens February 11th, 2021
Class Fee: $50
(That’s less than $3 per week!)

Class starts: Sunday, February 28th and is 17 weeks long (ending June 27th aka the Missoula Marathon!)
Class meets: As we closely monitor COVID-19 and the variant strains in the US, RWM will be taking a cautious approach to in-person training. This class will begin as a virtual class, with scheduled check-in times (via zoom) and accountability communications via email. As we move later into the spring, we plan to provide in-person, small group opportunities (pandemic permitting).
Sunday at 8:00 AM- zoom accountability check ins, more details to come
Wednesday at 6:15 PM - will feature specific training topics and provide for a Q&A opportunity with Forrest

2021 Coach:
Forrest Boughner - Forrest is a Missoula-based running coach. He has over 10 years of coaching experience from working with beginner runners to state championship high school teams. Forrest is dedicated to helping clients reach their goals, whatever they may be. When not in the office at Five Valleys Land Trust, Forrest runs Alpine Running Guides, which provides fully catered trail running experiences, personal coaching, and adventure planning, with his wife, Sara.

Training Plan Definitions:
Sunday Run (Long Run): This is your longest and most important run of the week. Make this a priority each week. This is the cornerstone of a successful training plan.
Wednesday Run (Medium Distance): These mid-week runs will start as medium distance runs as a way to build up your mileage. This is the 2nd most important run of the week.
Tuesday Track (Fast Running): We encourage all of you to try Tuesday Track a few times. This is a great way to build speed and confidence. There is a group for everybody at Tuesday Track and no reason to be intimidated. If you cannot participate in track, you can do a workout on your own or a recovery run.
Pace Charts & Pace Calculators:
Pace Chart Use this chart to predict finish times based on performances at shorter distances; identify training run and race paces; and to identify workout paces (based on minutes per mile/400 meter segment). Click HERE for the pace chart.
Runner’s World (RW) Pace Calculators This site has a wide variety of calculators including Race Time Predictor, Pace Wristband Creator, Training Paces and Pace Converter. The RW Pace Calculators can be found HERE.
Jack Daniel's VDOT Calculator This site allows you to put in your goal time and a current race time and then predicts your finish times at a wide variety of distances.The VDOT Calculator can be found HERE.

Looking for a little inspiration to get out of bed on the weekend? Come join us on our Saturday morning runs at Run Wild Missoula. These runs are geared toward everyone, from the beginner to the advanced runner; head out at 8:00 AM sharp.
